The NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase hosted their 21st biannual Quilt Show in the Kensington Town Hall on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 and on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018. Visitors from across Montgomery County came to the show to see 200 quilts on display.

This year’s Quilt Show followed the theme, “Just Around The Block,” to honor the surrounding Chevy Chase neighborhoods. The show was filled with a range of beautiful quilts, all having different shapes, colors, and sizes.
During the show, 700 visitors voted for their favorite quilt. Bobbie Korengold’s “Ben’s Midnight Garden” won first-place in the main show.

Also, Debbie Lamb-Mechanick’s “Talking Sticks” won the second place prize at the Quilt Show.

Indeed, the NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase is a quilting guild in Montgomery County, MD. Thus, each month the guild meets for community events, and to listen to speakers present workshops about different aspects of quilting.
We interviewed Martha Fry, chairman of the Quilt Show, to learn about what this event means to the guild, and to the Montgomery County community. Additionally, she offers insight into what it means to be a member of NeedlerChasers of Chevy Chase.
The proceeds from this event benefit the guild’s fundraising and community service activities.
