We have invited you to appear because you are considered an expert in your field and have valuable information for our viewing audience. This page will answer a lot of your questions, where to go, what to wear and how to prepare for your interview.
Welcome and thank you for agreeing to be a guest on one of our many programs here at MMC.
Arrive Early
Please arrive at the studio 15 minute prior to your scheduled interview time. The interview itself will take about 30 minutes to record, but plan on being at the studio for an hour including setup time. During setup, prior to your interview you will also have an opportunity to discuss your questions and topics for the interview with the host. We have several other programs here that record right before or after each other, so your punctuality is greatly appreciated and very important.
Directions
MMC is located at 3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington, MD 20895. Our studio is located on the lower level of the Kensington Town Hall (Old Armory). Parking is available in the parking lot of the town hall in any of the spaces that are not reserved. From the parking lot, go down the stairs to the lower level and through the dark green doors. The studio is all the way at the end of the hall on the left.
What to Wear
Business or business casual attire is perfect. Because we are an all virtual studio, meaning we use green screen technology, please DO NOT wear anything GREEN, YELLOW, TEAL or similar color clothing. Also please refrain from wearing jewelry that can be noisy.
Personal Devices
Please turn off all cell phones, laptops and tablets prior to your recording. Not only can a vibrating device be a distraction to you and the host but they can also interfere with the equipment.
During the Interview
Relax and smile. In everyday conversations you speak naturally and clearly, you look the other person in the eyes and there are no do-overs, treat this interview the same way. Before we begin take 2 deep breaths and you’ll instantly feel more comfortable (it really works).
Please DO NOT look at the cameras or monitors. Treat the interview as if you were sitting around having a cup of coffee and chatting with a friend. If the floor monitors are distracting please let us know and we can turn them off prior to your interview.
Facts tell, stories sell. Anytime you can give an example or tell a story it helps create a deeper level of understanding for the viewer while being entertained.
Since the audience are visual people, if there are any images that help demonstrate your topic please feel free to provide your host or the production staff with these elements. Please provide images that are at least 1024×768, preferably 1920×1080. You can also design a power point presentation and export the slides as jpegs to provide to the production staff by email prior to your interview.
When Will Your Show Air
Please see our Schedule page to find out when your program is on. The host and or production staff can also tell you the specific air dates. MMC can be found on Channel 16 in Montgomery County for anyone that has Comcast, Verizon or RCN. We can also be found in HD certain times of the day on Comcast Channel 997 and RCN Channel 1057.
If viewers do not live in the county or if they do not have one of the TV carriers listed above, our programming can be found Live online by going to www.mmctv.org and click on the Video page. Under upcoming events you will see MMCTV Daily Live Broadcast, when we are on-air click the link to watch Live.
How to Download a Copy of Your Interview
Within a week after your show airs it will be posted on the Video page of our website. Scroll down and click on the show you appeared on and then find your name and/or show topic. Next to where your name is listed you can click on Video to watch it through our player. Within the player you can click where it says Share and you can copy the link to send the video to friends and family or post it directly to social media through the Share feature. If you would like to download the file to post on your website you may do so by clicking on MP4 Video next to your name on the Video Page.
