Wednesday at 7:30pm Happy & Healthy has guest Patricia Maclay, MD, Commissioner at Montgomery County Commission for Women. The County established this Commission in 1972 to understand the needs of women and girls of Montgomery County. Maclay shares the solutions the Commission has available for girls and women in Montgomery County. Many programs are geared towards reaching out to women in need. Montgomery County Commission for Women assist with furthering education, financial or career help, returning to the workplace, they work with domestic violence organizations, human trafficking, and advocacy. They seek to reach a diverse population and offer as much education as possible. They also are partner with the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation to provide specialized services to women who are re-entering the community after serving prison time.
The Commission’s primary focus is to improve women’s lives by identifying inequities in laws, policies, practices and procedures. They also provide recommendations that promote remedies.
