Jubilee Association of Maryland is helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities realize their full potential. This Kensington-based non-profit provides a variety of support services that empower an often neglected population to lead fulfilling lives–whether it be at home, socially in the community, or obtaining a job. The organization has most recently established The Academy, providing structured courses for career growth.
Jubilee is a faith-based organization founded on the belief that the created universe is good and that everyone was put here for a reason. The organization’s roots date back to 1978 at the Hyattsville Mennonite Church where members were volunteering at a nearby institution for individuals with disabilities. However, those in the institution, like many at the time, experienced isolation and neglect. The church members wanted to do things differently, and got together with other disability professionals to start Jubilee.
