Nestled just off Howard Avenue in the heart of historic Kensington is Bergstrom Press & Books — an independent bookstore focused on Eastern-European language books. You can find Owner James Beale in store Tuesday through Saturday to help you navigate his niche selection of books, as well as hosting special author events throughout the year. Beale is also a publisher of materials for people who are studying Eastern-European languages.
Beale’s passion for these books began with his studies in the region and then developed while being an Officer with the U.S. Air Force at the end of the Cold War. Now with the war in Ukraine, he has seen an increased interest in the region and, because of this, has added relevant English language books to his inventory.
