Pride started with protests led by LGBTQ+ people, largely transgender women of color, who confronted policy brutality and discrimination in the fight for equality. It is good to remember Pride’s origins in resistance toward oppression. By its very nature, the struggle for civil rights must support, uplift, and affirm the most marginalized among us.
In Montgomery County, Councilmember Evan Glass is hosting Virtual Pride Month. Please join Evan for a series of events to celebrate Pride as we continue the fight for fairness, equality and the ability to live one’s life without fear or harm.
