Montgomery County’s Attainable Housing Strategies initiative began in 2021 to address the county’s housing shortage. With over 1 million residents and a projected 200,000 more over the next 25 years, current and prospective residents are seeing rising housing costs and limited supply. As people look elsewhere to live, the county loses tax revenue and workforce talent.
Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson and Montgomery Planning Director Jason Sartori have been conducting listening sessions for county residents to provide feedback on the proposed housing plans. There are several sessions remaining, including a virtual one. Residents must sign up in advance to attend.
- Monday, September 23, from 7-9PM | Germantown Community Center
- Wednesday, September 25, from 7-9PM| Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School
- Wednesday, October 2, Virtual Session (Zoom) from 12-1:30PM
Recently, Chevy Chase Section 5 held their own Attainable Housing Strategies Presentation led by the Montgomery Planning Board. Watch highlights below to get up-to-speed on the issues and proposed plans.
If you are unable to attend a listening session, the County Council invites you to provide input through this feedback form.
