Senator Ben Cardin was first elected to the Senate in 2006. Since 2006 he has been working hard for Marylander’s on issues such as the environment, healthcare, foreign affairs, civil rights, fiscal issues, and support for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Senator Cardin currently serves as Ranking Member of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee. He is a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Environment & Public Works committees and he also serves on the Senate Finance Committee.
More recently, since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak began Senator Cardin has been working tirelessly with local leaders to help keep their communities safe, healthy and provide trusted information during this very difficult time. He has been working in the Senate to pass legislation that provides relief and support to the families, businesses and communities that are struggling here in Maryland and across the nation.
