The 22nd Annual Paws in the Park dog walk & festival is an extraordinary event of the Montgomery County Humane Society, held in partnership with the City of Gaithersburg. One of the largest dog walks in the DC area, it raises funds to help homeless & abandoned animals throughout Montgomery County.
Admission is $18 for individuals; $30 for a family (up to of 4 individuals), children 12 and under are free. Admission at the gate is $20 for individuals, $36 for a family(up to of 4 individuals).
The Festival runs from noon to 4 pm. There will be contests for pets & their owners including best dressed, dog-owner lookalike, best trick & more, with prizes awarded for winners.
The Canine Agility Course & Competition, a crowd favorite, will return this year. This popular, off-leash area allows dogs to experience & compete in agility & other activities in the safety of an enclosed section. Prizes will be awarded in many categories.
Dozens of exhibitors will be on hand, many of whom will feature pet-related products or services, and there will be plenty of food for humans from a number of vendors! Sponsors will be on hand with giveaways & lots of surprises!
Pre-registration is available here. Registered walkers can sign up to fundraise individually or to form a fundraising team. Much of the event’s fundraising happens when registrants reach out to friends, family & coworkers, and encourage them to donate funds to help homeless animals through the Paws in the Park webpages they create. 1-mile dog walk, K-9 agility course and competition, contests and games for dogs and people – with prizes for winners, kids’ activities, music, food, vendors, special recognition for top fundraisers, and goody bags with fun gifts!
