On the latest episode of In the KNOW, David Winstead sits down with guests Bryan Barnett-Woods and Wes Guckert to discuss Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A), a new federal funding program to help advance the nation’s goal of zero roadway deaths. Through the program, $1 Billion a year is allocated for Vision Zero Planning, Demonstration & Implementation at the local, regional and tribal levels. During the show they talk about how Montgomery County municipalities can take part in this important opportunity to invest in the Safe System approach for lasting change in their community.
As the Principal Transportation Planner and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Coordinator for the City of Rockville’s Traffic and Transportation Division, Bryan Barnett-Woods shares his experience in applying for the SS4A grant and other grants his municipal neighbors may be able to benefit from. His role as the Vision Zero Coordinator for the City is to manage, coordinate and support the implementation of the city’s Vision Zero Action Plan and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies, and the public to carry out the action plan to increase traffic safety and eliminate transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries in Rockville.
Wes Guckert is the President & CEO of The Traffic Group which he founded in 1985. He is an expert in traffic engineering and transportation planning – a technical adviser in traffic analysis, traffic signal design, traffic circulation, access studies, automated and robotic parking systems, and transit planning.
