Unfortunately, tragedy can strike without any warning and we have already lost so many lives due to the current health crisis. This is devastating to all of us as a community, and especially to the family. The loss of a family member can be devastating both emotionally and financially. Social Security helps by providing income for the families of workers who die. These include widows and widowers (and divorced widows and widowers), children, and dependent parents.
If you or someone you know need to apply for Survivors benefits, please contact the Social Security Administration by calling the Toll Free Number 1-800-772-1213 to schedule an appointment. Offices remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, but employees continue to work remotely to serve the public.
