On the November edition of Social Security: Securing Today & Tomorrow, hosts Lydia Chevere and Diana Varela from the Social Security Administration (SSA), along with Commissioner Martin O’Malley, discuss disability benefits.
The SSA provides monthly payments to people who have a disability that limits their ability to work. The Social Security Act defines disability as a severe medical condition that has lasted or is expected to last at least one year. The condition must prevent the person from doing work that he or she has done in the past, or from adjusting to new work.
