On Wednesday morning, October 2nd, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will join the faculty, staff and students of Arcola Elementary School in Silver Spring to highlight the County’s participation in the 22nd celebration of “National Walk to School Day.”
This national day takes place on the first Wednesday of every October to promote health and safer routes for students to walk and bike to school. MCDOT’s Safe Routes to School supports this event is a part of the County’s overall commitment to Vision Zero to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on its roads.
The day’s activities aim to reinforce reminders for drivers to be alert for pedestrians and for pedestrians of all ages to use marked crosswalks. Learn more.
