The Montgomery County Government will observe the following schedule changes for Memorial Day on Monday, May 30:
- County offices—Closed.
- State offices and courts—Closed.
- State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations—Closed.
- Libraries—Closed.
- Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS)—Most stores will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Poolesville spirits-only story will be open noon-5 p.m.
- Ride On—Will operate on a Sunday schedule using the new schedules that went into effect on May 8. Those schedules can be viewed at RideOnBus.com.
- Ride On extRa and Flex—Not in service.
- Flash—Will operate on a weekend schedule (Orange Line only).
- MARC Train and Commuter Bus—No service.
- MTA Localand Commuter Buses – No service on the commuter bus, except for Route 201 (will operate on a Weekend/Holiday schedule). Local bus will operate on a Sunday schedule. More information available here.
- TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store—Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store—Closed.
- Metrorailand Metrobus – Metrorail will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule between 7 a.m. and midnight. Trains will arrive every 12 minutes until 10 p.m., then every 18 minutes until closing. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday service. Information available here.
- Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters—Free.
- County-collected trash and recycling—No County-provided trash or recycling collections will be made on May 30. After the holiday, pickups slide one day with last pick up on Saturday, June 4. More information is available at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/sws/holidays/.
- Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station—Closed.
- Recreation: County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will operate on a normal schedule.
- Community recreation and senior centers—Closed.

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, announces Memorial Day operating hours, including extending its Open Parkways through Tuesday, May 31, at 7 a.m. for the holiday weekend.
Open Parkways Schedule
Portions of Sligo Creek Parkway, Beach Drive, and Little Falls Parkway will be open to pedestrians and bicyclists for exercise and recreation.
Open to pedestrians and bicyclists (closed to motor vehicles), from Friday, May 27, at 9 a.m., to Tuesday, May 31, at 7 a.m.

- Old Carroll Avenue to Piney Branch Road (1.1 miles)
- Forest Glen Road to University Boulevard West (1.5 miles)
- Beach Drive from Connecticut Avenue to Knowles Avenue (2.7 miles)
Open to pedestrians and bicyclists (closed to motor vehicles), from Saturday, May 28, at 7 a.m., to Tuesday, May 31, at 7 a.m.
- Little Falls Parkway from River Road to Arlington Road (1 mile)
Seasonal Amenities Open Saturday, May 28
The South Germantown SplashPark & Mini-Golf open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. weekends only from May 28 through June 12, open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily (closed Mondays) June 16 through September 5.
Kayak, canoe, rowboats, and pedal boat rentals at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park, and Little Seneca Lake in Black Hill Regional Park are open May 28. Throughout the season, Lake Needwood will be open on weekends from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Little Seneca Lake will be open Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Memorial Day Weekend Facility Operating Hours
Following is a sampling of facilities that are open during the holiday weekend.
- Parks, trails, gardens, playgrounds, dog parks, skate parks, outdoor exercise stations, and outdoor tennis/pickleball and basketball courts* are open daily from sunrise to sunset. (*Select outdoor courts are available for rental.)
- The in-line hockey rink at Ridge Road Recreational Park and street hockey/futsal rink at Dewey Local Park may be permitted, or are available first come, first serve if not reserved.
- Picnic shelters and campfire rings are available for rental at several locations.
- Little Bennett Campground
- Cabin John Miniature Train and Wheaton Miniature Train and Carousel
- South Germantown Driving Range
- Brookside Gardensgrounds open daily sunrise to sunset, Visitor Center open daily 9 a.m. –5 p.m., Conservatory open daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Josiah Henson Museum and Park, Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. Park open sunrise to sunset.
- Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park Museum & Visitor Center, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The following facilities will be CLOSED on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022.

- Montgomery Parks Customer Service Office
- Pauline Betz Addie and Wheaton Indoor Tennis Centers
- Cabin John Ice Rink and Wheaton Ice Arena (closed May 28 through May 30)
- Indoor nature facilities - Brookside Nature Center, Locust Grove Nature Center, Black Hill Visitor Center. Trails and outdoor nature play areas remain open sunrise to sunset.
- Meadowside Nature Center is closed for building renovations.
