Ellouise Schoettler tells a personal story about her 76 year long friendship with Betsy and the hardship of hearing Betsy’s daughter tell her the woman who knew her like no other had died. Ellouise shares how she meet Betsy at her girl scout troop, the friendship that survived no matter location because the magic of the telephone, and how grateful she was to have been at her memorial or more of a celebration of her life with her son who also lost a loved one. Ellouise learned how important music is when feeling sad and how moved the congregation made her feel with their gorgeous, deep voices and how amazing the service was because it was a woman’s ceremony. A ceremony for Betsy with some of her favorite poems and a poem read by her daughter of her favorite author Mary Oliver.
