Poolesville 4th of July Fireworks
The Town of Poolesville and Upper Montgomery County Fire Department will be presenting a a fireworks show in Poolesville this July 4th. The show will take place at the soccer fields on Hughes Rd and Sugarland on Monday, July 4th (gates open at 5pm).
New food trucks will be at the event, including the Big Greek Cafe truck, Corned Beef King, Flip Side Gastro, Rosie’s Funnel Cakes, Grandma Kona’s Ice, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and more to come. There will be music by Jeff Carmella and representation from many local churches.
Prohibited at the event will be alcohol, beer, and wine. Dogs and other pets will also be prohibited and coolers will be inspected if you choose to bring one.
Section 5 of The Village of Chevy Chase Annual Fourth of July Parade and Party
RSVP Today for the Annual Fourth of July Parade and Party
Don’t miss the annual Fourth of July parade led by a Chevy Chase fire engine! The day begins at 11 a.m. in front of 3807 Williams Lane. We will gather for the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic songs, and a short but star-spangled stroll down Williams, Brookville, Thornapple, and ending up on Underwood (between Dalkeith and Thornapple Place) with a
lunch and party.
All Section residents, friends, family, and pets are welcome. We will have hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers from Rocklands Barbecue. Lunch will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. and be available until 1 p.m. Stop in and grab a quick bite, or stay for the moon bounce and water slide! Fourth of July festive attire is encouraged. Don’t forget to decorate your bikes, strollers, and wagons.
Please email your RSVP to the Town Manager: manager@chevychasesection5.org so we have a general headcount for food.
However, if you find you are available and have not RSVP’d, please come anyway!
Chevy Chase Village Parade to the Park
Monday, July 4th, 2022
Assemble at the Village Hall at 10:15 a.m. to decorate your bikes, strollers and wagons.
Parade leaves the Village Hall at 10:30 a.m.
Join us to celebrate at the Large Oliver Street Park (bordered by Oliver St., Kirkside Dr. and Park St.) through 12:30 p.m. to enjoy grilled hot dogs, popcorn, watermelon, Rita’s Italian Ice, 4th of July party favors and a moon bounce!
Bring the whole family!
In the event of heavy rain, the event will be held in the Village Hall.

Mid-County Sparkles & Germantown Glory
Celebrate the 4th of July at Germantown Glory in Boyds or Mid-County Sparkles in Kensington! Enjoy live music and a spectacular fireworks display. Food vendors will be on site. The fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. Rain date for fireworks only is July 5.
Gaithersburg SummerFest

Celebrate America’s independence with friends & family at SummerFest, Gaithersburg’s illuminating summer festival on the expansive grounds of Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. The free event takes place on SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2022, from 6 to 11:30 p.m. The festival features live music, food trucks, local breweries, family-friendly activities, all leading up to a spectacular fireworks display & SummerGlo After Party.
SummerFest kicks off at 6 p.m. with Nation, one of DC’s top dance bands. Enjoy delicious offerings from food & local craft beverage vendors, including Dogfish Head, Landmade, Lone Oak, Steinhardt Brewing, True Respite & Waredaca. ATMs available onsite.
The Water Park & Miniature Golf Course open at 11 a.m. and the Skate Park opens at Noon. Note that the Water Park will be open for the exclusive use of City residents & aquatics members only on July 2. There are entrance fees for the Water Park & Miniature Golf Course. The air-conditioned Activity Center will serve as a comfort station with indoor bathrooms & space to relax up until 9 p.m.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food & blankets to enjoy a picnic during the event, or purchase a meal and treats from a variety of vendors & food trucks. Coolers are allowed, but for safety reasons, personal grills, outside alcoholic beverages, glass containers, weapons (real or facsimile), and fireworks of any kind (including sparklers) are strictly prohibited. Pets are not recommended due to crowd & noise issues. If brought, they must be leashed. Skateboards, scooters, rollerblades & bikes will be confined to the Skate Park. Smoking & vaping are not permitted in public spaces in Gaithersburg.
FIREWORKS DISPLAY
Once it gets nice & dark (approximately 9:25 p.m.), a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night with bursts of amazing colors & styles that launch up to 500 feet. Bohrer Park is the best place to watch them, but there are several viewing options in surrounding locations. A map identifying best viewing spots is available here.
SUMMERGLO AFTER PARTY
Wait out the traffic after the fireworks by staying for our SummerGlo After Party. Nationwill give an encore performance while LED hoopers, jugglers, stilt walkers entertain the crowd. The playground will be fully lit, and you can purchase glow-in-the dark merchandise to be part of the fun.
PARKING
Limited parking is available onsite. It is recommended that those who park onsite stay and enjoy the SummerGlo After Party as significant traffic delays are anticipated following the fireworks display. Bohrer Park is within a ¼ mile walk of Olde Towne, Gaithersburg, where there is free parking in a variety of lots and in the parking garage. A parking map can be found here.
TRAFFIC NOTICES
Note that the Gaithersburg Police Department is planning lane reductions along Route 355 adjacent to Bohrer Park and there will be a change in traffic patterns during the event. Cars will not be allowed to cross over or turn left onto Route 355 between Cedar & Central Avenues. Plan your route accordingly. If you are not attending the festival, please take alternate routes to avoid the area completely.
Crossing guards will be stationed along Route 355 at the intersections of South Summit Avenue, Education Boulevard & Deer Park Road. There will be many pedestrians in the area; please use caution. To ensure pedestrian safety, Summit Avenue between Hutton Street & South Frederick Avenue will close to vehicles at 5 p.m.
Please do not stop your vehicle on Route 355 to watch the fireworks display. You will be ticketed, and if you are not with your vehicle, it will be towed.
RAINDATE
If the fireworks are canceled due to inclement weather the fireworks ONLY will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 3. There will be no fireworks on July 4. Check the City’s website regularly for updates & follow us @GaithersburgEvents on Facebook and @GburgMD on Facebook & Twitter.
