The Kensington Historical Society and the National Capital Trolley Museum took area residents on a look back at how streetcars shaped Kensington. Did you know that there was once a streetcar line that took people from Chevy Chase to Kensington? Learn about the history and development of the area’s transportation system–beginning with the expansion of the B&O railway at the end of the Civil War, to the growth of federal employees residing beyond the downtown area, the streetcar routes and uses, and finally the transition to a new bus system.
