On this episode of Think About It, guest Valari Jackson a Speaker and Productivity Coach with Fierce Focus Strategies talks about Personality. How do we get along after the pandemic? First, start with communications at home then look at work. Communication is sending a message, having that message received, and having that message understood. Always assume you are communicating with someone different from you. Begin with learning about yourself to understand who you are, then you can recognize the similarities or differences to help relate to other people. Personality is based on how you convey your preferences, the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character.
Myers Briggs is an introspective self-report questionnaire indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The test attempts to assign four categories: introversion or extraversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, judging or perceiving. One letter from each category is taken to produce a four-letter test result, such as “INTJ” or “ESFP”.
In the Myers Briggs world, don’t put someone else in a box, it is a self assessment. It is based on 4 dichotomies or opposites. There are 4 pairs based on preferences. It tells us how we are wired and how we show up.
4 Myers Briggs Dichotomies
