As we approach the Fourth of July holiday Montgomery County Recreation will be hosting two of their annual independence day celebrations: Mid-County Sparkles at Albert Einstein High School 11135 Newport Mill Road Kensington, MD 20895, and Germantown Glory at the South Germantown Recreational Park 18041 Central Park Circle Boyds, MD 20841. Anyone is welcomed to attend the celebration which will begin around 7:30pm with live music. So bring your cameras, lawn chairs, and blankets to the fireworks that start around 9:15pm. Food vendors will also be on site.
The City of Rockville will be hosting their very own Independence Day Celebration at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm 1800 Piccard Drive Rockville, MD 20850. There will be live music played by the Nighthawks starting at 7:00pm to kick off the beginning of the celebration followed by fireworks at 9:00pm. Free parking will be provided, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Guests may bring their own food and beverage, but please note that there will be no barbecuing or open flames allowed on the event site.
Takoma Park will also be hosting their 150th annual 4th of July celebration for the entire day. At 10am their parade will start at the intersection of Carroll and Ethan Allen Avenues. At 7:00pm the streets of Takoma Park will host live music, acrobatics, and children’s activities. The events will take place in front of the Takoma Park Community Center at 7500 Maple Ave. Sadly this year there will be no fireworks due to the construction taking place at Takoma Park Middle School over the course of the summer.
Montgomery County 4th of July Schedule
On the Thursday of 4th of July all county offices will be closed which includes: public libraries, courts, etc. Montgomery County parks aquatics programs and facilities will be open, and the Germantown Indoor Swim Center will close at 3 p.m. All recreational centers, senior centers and administrative offices will be closed. Additionally the public ride-on will run, and operate on a Saturday schedule.
