In recognition of Juneteenth, Pride in the Plaza will not hold any activities on Monday, June 20th. Juneteenth has long been recognized by Black communities as a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States, and as of last year is officially recognized as a federal holiday. Instead of attending any Pride in the Plaza events on this day, we encourage you to support local Black led organizations and businesses.
Loyalty Bookstores, a local Queer and Black owned bookstore, will have a Jubilee Juneteenth Book Bundle, a curated collection of books to read in honor and celebration of Juneteenth. Stay tuned for this year’s book bundle, and check out Loyalty Bookstores for online and in-person books that center Black, PoC, and Queer voices. LoyaltyBookstores.com
