In the KNOW is back with a new episode featuring the Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association (MTBMA). Host David Winstead, well-known in the transportation industry as the former Secretary of Transportation for the State of Maryland, welcomes the President & CEO of MTBMA, Michael Sakata. MTBMA is the voice of the transportation, construction, and materials industries in Maryland, serving its members in a variety of ways:
- identifying and resolving issues affecting contractors and producers
- advocating for funding to meet transportation needs
- providing a forum for networking, continuous improvement, and innovation
- and much more
Winstead and Sakata discuss current challenges like how the expansion of Maryland highways has not kept up with demand, how the extra weight of electric vehicles affects roads, and how damaged roadways affect Maryland residents in terms of vehicle repair costs. Sakata asserts that the congestion problems in the metro area need to be viewed as a statewide and even region-wide issue to be resolved.
Watch to learn how the MTBMA is addressing these issues through advocacy for legislation, funding, and public support.
